Mission Statement
The school mission is to enrich each student's life through educational experiences, and foster a life-long appreciation of the value of education.
Failure Is Not an Option Program
For this coming school year we are going to implement a Failure Is Not an Option Program. We find that students who do not complete their class assignments are the students who are most frustrated with school and are the ones that fail. These students are also the students who create most of the classroom disruptions. We need to motivate students to complete all of their work.
After School Study Hall.
Monday through Thursday we will have an After School Study Hall and Tutoring available to all students from 2:45 until 4:00 pm. Study Hall will have teachers and aides to assist the students who are having difficulties.
Study Hall will be mandatory for students not completing their work. When a student fails to turn in an assignment, that same day the student will contact his or her parent by phone. The student will explain to their parents that they must report to After School Study Hall that same day to complete their work.
If the student cannot contact a parent by phone they will receive a note from the teacher explaining why he or she was required to stay for Study Hall. The student will be required to report to Study Hall until the assignment is satisfactorily completed.
If the student acts out in Study Hall and refuses to work he will be suspended from school until the work is completed. Students no longer have the option of not completing their work at Alicia Intermediate School.
