About
First Assembly of God of Alliance, Ohio was founded in the year 1920. Our original site was on the corner of Arch and Grant Street, just north of Grant on the west side. Then we moved north on Arch just south of Columbia Street. Then when Edward Roush was the Pastor, we were at 269 South Union Avenue. In the year of 1945, we became officially affiliated with the Assemblies of God on the 26 November. It was called the Assembly of God Chapel. We then purchased the property on the corner of Park Avenue and Harrison Street in the early part of 1958.
So since 1958, we have been on this property. Pastor Leonard Salvig was here in 1972 when we built a new facility. The new building became the sanctuary, the old building became the educational facility.
On August 23, 1981 the Rev. William L. Gross became the Pastor of First Assembly of God. In November of that year, we tore a wall out in the sanctuary to accommodate the increase in attendance.
On October 18, 1982, we signed the contract for the construction of the New Sanctuary. We tore down part of the original building which was built in 1958, and built the present Sanctuary. It was dedicated on April 8, 1984.
On June 7, 1985 we purchased the property at 333 North Union Avenue just across the alley from the original church and housed was was part of our educational facilities. The House was torn down. A reconstruction of the Sanctuary was performed in May of 1992 due to structural problems.
Pastor Larry Gross is our Pastor, and we prayerfully continue our ministry the way Our Father would want us to Of One Mind, One Body, and One Spirit.
