The American Assocaiton of University Women (AAUW) was founded in 1881 and is the oldest women's organzation in the United States that advocates for women and girls through Philanthropy, Technology, Advocacy and Education.

The Springfield Branch of AAUW was founded in 1927 and is a charter member of the Ohio AAUW. The branch partners wiith other, local women's groups such as Project Woman, Planned Parenthood and Womanade, to advance and support women and girls

Since 1987, the branch has been awarding scholarships to Clark County women pursuing a post secondary education. membership in the branch is open to anyone, men and women, who hold an Associates Degree from a regionally recognized college or university
