The 2010 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Dearborn will take place May 1-2, from 10 am - 10 am at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

Relay For Life is a 24-hour event that celebrates the lives of cancer survivors, remembers those lost and empowers the Dearborn community to fight back against a disease that takes too much from too many. Relay For Life helps to further the American Cancer Society's vision of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays. 

At Relay, teams of friends, neighbors, families, and co-workers commit to keeping at least one member walking the track for the 24 hour event. Cancer never sleeps so, for one day, neither do we. Teams set up campsites around the track and plan a variety of activities at their sites. We also have a combination of a DJ (services provided by Rock Out Entertainment) and live entertainment all day and night.

Relay begins at 10 am, Saturday, May 1st with a special lap honoring our Survivors and their caregivers. Once the survivors take the first lap, all are invited to begin walking. Other highlights of the day are our Fight Back Ceremony and our Luminaria Ceremony. The Fight Back Ceremony will help our community learn ways to fight back against cancer 365 days a year, not just at Relay. Our Luminaria Ceremony takes place at 10 pm Saturday. The track will be lined with candlelit bags to remember those lost and honor survivors. After a special ceremony, we walk a silent lap together. The bags remain lit around the track all night.

Bringing our Dearborn Community together for a common purpose and sharing in the moving ceremonies, activities, food and fun make Relay an amazing 24 hours. We hope you will consider joining us for the 2010 Relay For Life of Dearborn.
