The American Red Cross is looking for disaster volunteers willing to assist in readiness, response, and recovery efforts in Shasta, Siskiyou, Trinity, Lassen, Tehama, and Modoc Counties. Across the country, volunteers constitute more than 90 percent of the American Red Cross workforce. Volunteers make it possible to respond to nearly 70,000 disasters every year, most of them home and apartment fires. However, work in disaster does not only exist during the wildfires and floods. We have a continuous need for volunteers to respond to home fires, ensure readiness of our equipment, maintain training, and coordinate with partners.
We are looking for volunteers in our local communities willing to complete an application, background check, and a series of training courses in their desired areas of specialty. These specialties include:
- Public Affairs
- Disaster Technology
- Casework (Client and Family Recovery)
- Partnerships (Government and Community)
- Staff Services/Human Resources
- Child and Adult Disaster Preparedness Education
- Plan Writing and Development
- Geographic Information Systems
- Information Analysis (including data entry, management, and analysis)
- Disaster Sheltering
- Mass Feeding/Food Service
- Material Logistics (Supply, Warehousing, transportation, etc.)
- Health Services (credentials required)
- Disaster Mental Health Services (credentials required)
