About
Atavus Vineyard has been dry farmed since its inception in the late 1960's. A combined vision of owner Charles Henderson and Dr. Walter J. Clore, this site was destined for Alsatian-inspired Gewürztraminer and the Swiss-originating Mariafeld clone of Pinot Noir. The high elevation nature of this site presents conditions that help establish the boundaries of cool climate viticulture. Receiving an annual rainfall of approximately 35 inches, Atavus vineyard has existed by the generosity of mother nature's moisture and decades of meticulous handling by the Henderson family in pursuit of a vision: establishing one of the finest cool climate vineyards in the Pacific Northwest, producing exemplary wines of Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Blanc de Noir Sparkling. Nearly 50 years on, Steven and Kris are honored to carry forth this vision under the label Analemma Wines and Atavus Vineyard.
