Bellbrook Lions Club

2757 Wilmington Dayton Road

History:

A group from Sugarcreek Township visited the Centerville Lions Club. These and others later met in the Sugarcreek township hall and decided to form a Bellbrook club. Sponsored by the Centerville Lions Club, they held an election of officers to serve through June of 1947. A day in March was set as the closing date for charter membership. The initial charter membership group quickly grew to 56. This list was submitted to Lions International with the application for charter. On April 14, 1947 the Bellbrook Lions Club was officially chartered for membership to the Lions Clubs International.

From this modest beginning, the Bellbrook Lions Club has grown into one of the most active service organizations in the area. Our projects include helping eradicate blindness throughout the world through Lions organizations such as Lions Clubs International, Pilot Dogs, and, Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank located at Ohio State University. We have helped in disaster relief funds for our local community neighbors in Xenia, as well as supporting funds as far away as New York City.

On a local level, we are proud to sponsor and manage summer boys and girls baseball leagues, a girls softball league, as well as winter boys and girls basketball programs. These programs have helped thousands of kids over the years to learn better skills while maintaining an attitude of good sportsmanship.

Our group delivers fruit baskets to the widows in our community every Christmas, we make annual donations to the local police and fire departments for equipment purchases, we present two local students with $2000 scholarships each year, plus we make annual donations to the Bellbrook High School music and athletic departments. Based on needs, our club makes individual donations of eye examinations and glasses for local area children.

We are a club of diverse members with a common goal of helping the less fortunate in our community. The Lions Club logo tells us to remember the past, but look forward to the future.
