Belmont Historical Society

The Belmont Historical Society is a gathering of people in Belmont, Massachusetts, whose mission it is to preserve the history of Belmont, and to present it to its citizens.

The Society was founded in 1930 and today maintains the twofold purpose of preservation and presentation. To accomplish this mandate we archive photographs, artwork, documents, books, and memorabilia, which represent the history of the town and its residents and we encourage you to participate by donating your own "bits of nostalgia" future generation to enjoy. Additionally the Society offers various programs and lectures that are attended by school groups, civic organizations, town committees, and the general public which are designed to both educate and entertain.

Today our current membership includes 350 households who look forward to receiving our quarterly newsletter written for the past 35 years by Town Historian Richard Betts! The Belmont Historical Society is governed by a board of Officers and Directors who meet on a monthly basis to discuss and develop new initiatives, which may assist in promoting the unique history of this town and its residents
