The mission of the Parks & Recreation Department is to provide for and enhance the health, lifelong learning and spirit of the Belmont community with a wide variety of recreational programs and services. Quality programs and services are essential for the development of healthy individuals and a strong community. The department provides programs, services and special events directly through city staff or partnerships with local schools, businesses and individuals. Partnerships with youth sports leagues, senior citizen clubs, service clubs and neighborhood associations are also an important part of the department’s operations.
The Parks & Recreation Department provides facilities for many community and city activities. The operation and maintenance of community centers, parks and athletic fields are vital to a healthy community. Community centers provide places for people to gather for special events, meetings and family functions. Athletic fields allow the youth and adults in the community a place to exercise and compete.
