The Big Buddy Program is a local non-profit (501(c)(3) youth services agency that provides positive role models and quality learning experiences to over 2,000 disadvantaged children/youth on a weekly basis in the Baton Rouge community.
Since 1979 the Big Buddy Program has provided children and youth with positive adult role models through the Big Buddy/Little Buddy mentoring programs; character education and leadership sessions; quality out of school time activities such as after school programs, holiday camps and summer enrichment programs; teen programs that develop literacy skills through self-expression and creative writing; and numerous other direct services that involve the generosity of time and energy of a dedicated staff and over 700 volunteers per year.

Scope of Services and Results
Big Buddy/Little Buddy Mentoring Matches – provides children in need of a special friend with a caring adult or teen role model. Current impact: 184 Mentor Matches
Out of School Time Programs (After School, Holiday and Summer Enrichment) – provides children with the opportunity to participate in positive activities and rich learning experiences in a safe environment during the out of school times throughout the year. Current impact: 300 served/week
Character Development and Leadership Courses – provides inner-city youth with character building activities, hands-on-science instruction, leadership development experiences, and access to Junior Achievement programs. Current impact: 2,880 served per week
Teen Programs – provides creative dynamic safe forums for teens to develop literacy and life skills. Current impact: 400 served per month
