In the spring of 1999, motivated by a desire to move their careers back to working the earth and teach their kids the value of hard work, David & Cathy Probst fired up the old 1957 family tractor and plowed enough ground to plant 5,000 strawberry plants. Cathy started an assortment of plants in a small greenhouse David built and at that moment, Blooms & Berries Farm Market was born.
Jeff Probst, Owner of Blooms and Berries Farm Market in Loveland, Ohio. Our fourth-generation farm has been part of our family since 1939. A lot has changed in the past 70+ years, including the sad passing of David in 2005. Today, however, we like to think David would be proud of how far we've come.
Each summer we employ at least a dozen students, teaching them team work, life lessons and the value of a hard day’s work. We nourish the earth so it can nourish us and our community with acres of beautiful, delicious fresh and local produce.
We bring great joy to homes with beautiful color in the form of stunning hanging baskets and planters that bloom all summer. We delight and teach thousands of kids and families each fall through agricultural-based play focusing not on Halloween, but on the harvest of a farm.
The beauty of the future is that while we can steer our movement forward, we will not know the ultimate destination until we get there. Our direction lies in taking care of the soil between our fingers, teaching the kids on your arms, and nourishing families with healthy food and time spent together.
We hope with your visits this year we will be able to share the beauty of our blooms, deliciousness of our berries, and excitement of our farm.
