Just an hour's drive from San Diego, though some 4500 feet higher, is the backcountry town of Julian. Nestled in the local mountains, this wonderful little town boasts fresh water fishing, waterfalls, forested hiking trails, old gold mines, cute B&Bs, and perhaps most famous of all – apple pies. Lots and lots of apple pies.
In recent years though, Julian has started to become known also for its wine tasting rooms and craft breweries. There are half a dozen up here already and the fit with the town is perfect. Country charm, apple orchards, wonderful restaurants, art galleries, beautiful scenery, all a perfect setting in which to enjoy the craft of local drink-makers, including Blue Door!
We've set up shop in the middle of town, converting the town's old livery stables into a comfortable and charming tasting room. With big barn doors, exposed high ceilings, wood floors, and of course plenty of great wine, we look forward to welcoming you to our Julian tasting room. We think you're going to love it – we do!
