Unit History Troop 7 was first “chartered” in June 1941 at the Grace Methodist Church in Alton. Six months later, the United States entered World War II and it is believed the Troop was disbanded because of the War. The War ended and in 1946, Bill Rain, who had served as a bomber pilot, returned home and was asked if he would revive Troop 7 at the Elm Street Presbyterian Church. He agreed to be the Scoutmaster and the Troop has met at the Church for the next 60 years. - Most Scout members are from the Greater Alton and Godfrey area. - Troop 7 is Scout Run with monthly Scouting activities scheduled throughout the year. - Currently there are over 25 active Scouts in Troop 7 in 3 different patrols supported by experienced Scout-elected boy leaders and trained adult volunteers. - For 2013, Troop 7 scouts have voted to attend week long summer camp at the Woodland Trails Scout Reservation in Camden, Ohio.

The Scouts from Troop 7 are active in the community through Service Hours and Eagle Scout Projects. - Each new Scout has the opportunity to advance in Scouting through monthly Troop activities.
