The Brandon Township Recreation Department was established in 1981 as “BGO.” This organization provided recreational opportunities for residents of Brandon and Groveland Townships, the Village of Ortonville, and the entire Brandon School District. This organization was adopted by Brandon Township in the year 1999 and re-established as “Brandon Township Recreation.” The staff continues to provide team and individual sport activities for all ages as well as family and educational outings. While the administrative staff is funded by Brandon Township, all programs are self-funded and receive no tax dollars. Brandon Township Recreation is a member of the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA), which provides a number of recreational opportunities state-wide, as well as discount tickets to many area theme parks and attractions.
