About Us:
The C. S. Brown Regional Cultural Arts Center in Winton, North Carolina was established to preserve the multiethnic heritage of Northeastern North Carolina and enhance the quality of life in the community through the visual and performing arts. The organization is housed in historic Brown Hall, part of the campus of Chowan Academy, a school for black youth founded in 1886 by Calvin Scott Brown. The 10,000 square-foot facility includes an auditorium, an archive, an antique classroom, seminar and dining rooms and a kitchen. The Center also has a collection of West African and African American artifacts.
