Calvary Fellowship
At Calvary Fellowship, our mission is:
"Experiencing God Together". We accomplish our mission by encouraging and equipping people to walk with God daily, build authentic community, and reach others intentionally.
"They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer... And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved."
History:
Imagine seven people, a living room, and a Bible. If you were to show up at a particular home in Miami Lakes in the year 2000 that was the start of Calvary Fellowship. It was a small group with big dreams wondering what God might do. God had touched the heart of Pastor Bob Franquiz to leave his position at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale and venture out into unknown territory and follow God’s leading. That small group soon became a Bible study of over 20 people and the group found the Courtyard Marriott hotel that was willing to rent their conference rooms on Sunday morning.
By their first anniversary, that group of seven had growth to over a hundred. With the growth of the church, God led the church to Cobb Theatres on Main Street in Miami Lakes in December of 2001. With much more room to grow, the church continued to expand, reaching more people than ever as people were being taught the Bible in a relevant, contemporary manner. Through creative planning, theatres are turned into classrooms and a sanctuary, and a movie house is transformed every Sunday into a church. At the five-year mark, over 600 people call Calvary Fellowship home.
When asked about the future of the church, Pastor Bob says, “We are still doing the same thing we were doing when there was just seven of us. We are seeking to experience God together and grow in our relationship with Him, our relationship with one another, and reach out to those who haven’t experienced God’s love yet.”
