Beginning in May members will start picking up their shares. If picking up on the farm in Cummings the veggies available for the week will generally be set up in bulk bins. A label on each bin will tell you how much is allotted for each member. It maybe in pounds, by the piece or in a bunch. Once the season is at its peak there will be more picking and choosing between items. Members will also have the option of picking their own crops such as peas, beans, cherry tomatoes, herbs and flowers. Understanding that not everyone has time to pick your own these crops will be prepicked and included in your share at least once. If picking up at a farmers market members will receive a prepacked box with a few items left out to pick and choose from once the season is in full swing. Cedar Lane Farm is a recently established organic vegetable farm located in Cummings, KS (10 miles southwest of Atchison, KS). Carrie Kesse is the grower/manager of Cedar Lane with the help of family members. The farm officially got its start in 2009 marketing organic produce at area farmers markets including Atchison on Wednesdays, Zona Rosa on Tuesday evenings, and Liberty, MO on Saturday mornings. Prior to that Carrie had been living in Massachusetts where she apprenticed two years at a large scale certified organic vegetable operation. Cedar Lane is in the process of being certified organic we hope to be certified by June of 2010. We will be offering a CSA for the first time in 2010. W
