The CBC was established in 1967 to encourage and promote bicycle riding and safety, and to foster a good relationship between cyclists and motorists by demonstrating courtesy and respect for the law. CBC is a touring club, not a racing club. In March of 2002, CBC became a chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). In May of 2004, CBC's affiliation with SORBA was resolved.
