In 1928 land clearing was done, and a brick building was built as the new Cherry School #96.
Cherry School received its name because of an abundance of cherry trees near the site.
Students from Zim, Forbes, Iron, and Wolf townships sent students to Cherry.
With enrollments climbing, a new addition was built in 1954, which included five new classrooms, an industrial arts department, a
gymnasium with a stage, and a music department.
In 1971, Cherry became a K-12 campus serving grades K through 12. .
In 1981, additional classrooms were added to the school, along with a multi-purpose room and a cafeteria.
