History of Christ Church, United Methodist

The history of Methodism in Wellesley dates to the early 1800s when itinerant Methodist preachers traveled from congregation to congregation in the area. The congregation in Lower Falls was founded in 1869 and in 1889, the church known as Perrin Memorial Methodist Church was built on Washington Road at the Lower Falls-Wellesley town line. In the 1950s, the congregation purchased land in Wellesley and in 1962, moved into their newly constructed building at 2 Brook Street. Christ Church, United Methodist is one of nearly 600 churches in the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and is part of the Central Massachusetts District.
