The cultural community of Atkinson is a mixture of the locals living in and near town, as well as many families living on outlying farms and ranches. The community features elementary, middle and high schools with a total enrollment of about 300 students. We have a 10,500 square foot community center, a brand new library, a public golf course and a public swimming pool. The community has many churches and other active organizations that range from the American Legion to classic car clubs.

Our city government includes an elected mayor and city council. Even though we are a small town, we have a robust health care community including a full service hospital, medical clinic, lab, pharmacy and several long-term care facilities. Our community also has advanced EMS and fire fighting capabilities, which are fueled by highly committed and well-trained volunteers.

We still enjoy the benefit of a weekly newspaper, the Atkinson Graphic, and several area radio stations provide personalized programming benefiting the area.
