The City of Farley is made up of approximately 1400 persons of varying ancestry which makes for a diverse, interesting community. We are home to an active American Legion & Auxiliary, Young Men's group, Little League & Youth League baseball, softball, Commercial Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Industrial Development Corporation, an active Park Board and Fire Department and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Seton Catholic School grades K-8, and Drexler Elementary & Middle School.
The Commercial Club formed a Historical Society in 1995 with a goal of preserving our past. After many volunteer hours, the City of Farley History was published in 1996. This book is available at City Hall. Their next goal is to establish a museum.
The Industrial Development Corporation was formed in 1988 and with community support bought land for an Industrial park. In 1996 the first industry was established and four more industries were added 1999-2000. The group continues to work toward seeing the park grow and prosper and to assist new and existing businesses.
Our Fire Department consists of 33 volunteers who sponsor an annual dance and the Fourth of July Fireworks celebration in addition to their many hours serving the department. The Farley Young Men's sponsor a Labor Day Bash at the Farley Park, Fall Festival and are responsible for the annual Christmas Lighting on Main Street.
Our City Park is second to none with lighted baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, an enclosed pavilion, many open-air pavilions and up-to-date playground equipment. Besides the two school libraries, Farley is home to the Dubuque County Library. We are located near Heritage Trail and are the home of the Farley Speedway.
An active Senior Citizen group meets twice a week for meals and social activities which rounds out the activities available in our community.
