Fort Payne is rich with history and heritage: from the "boom era" in which Northern investors flocked to in hopes of large mineral deposits, to an important segment of the Indian Removal Act. There are several different organizations and museums that display artifacts, informational exhibits, and more. There are also several different local and state groups (such as the Alabama Historical Association) that have displayed historical markers across town.
