Hobart, Indiana, located in the Northwest corner of Indiana, was once the home of the Pottawatomie Indians. Today it is a growing community with excellent schools, emergency services, beautiful Parks, and large shopping mall all within a short driving distance. The city of Hobart is located near three major highways; I65 to the West, I80/94 to the North, and US route 30 to the South. Hobart is app. 25 square miles and is only 38 miles from Chicago, Illinois and 151 mile north of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Hobart has spacious land for industrial development along major highways and newly developing subdivisions through out the city. Hobart has Twenty-one beautiful parks located throughout the city. Along with the city parks Hobart has a 600 acre lake located near the downtown area which provides for fishing and boating.
Hobart has seven schools, several private schools, and a business college that provide an excellent education for our children and young adults
The City government consists of an elected Mayor and seven City councilmen, Clerk Treasurer and City Judge.
Hobart Has a Full Time fire department with 4 fire stations located throughout the city with an ISO rating of 4/9. The city also has a Police department with 2 stations providing protection to all the citizens of Hobart. Officers have take home cars providing with a quick response in case of an emergency.
