Mandan's slogan, "Where the West Begins," embodies our community's rugged and hearty nature evident in our terrain, people, annual celebrations, and heritage, first as a village for the Mandan tribe, then a cavalry fort, railroad town and hub for area ranchers and farmers.
Today, Mandan is a growing city passionately retaining its hometown atmosphere and history. Our community bursts with pride when hosting special events that draw thousands of visitors year after year.
Buggies-n-Blues showcases classic cars on Main Street the second weekend in June. Rodeo Days over the Fourth of July includes Art In the Park and the state's longest parade. Weeknight summer concerts draw spectators to Dykshoorn Park.
Other attractions include Ft. Lincoln State Park and the Custer House, the Railroad Museum, Raging Rivers Water Park, Huff Hills Ski Area, auto racing at Dacotah Speedway, two golf courses, 14 miles of walking and bike trails, a new soccer complex, a renovated baseball field and the finest softball diamonds in the state, a hockey arena, and Community Center swimming pool and fitness facilities.
