Rochester will be the best mid-sized city in the U.S. in which to live, raise a family, visit and grow a business. Our city will be renowned for its safe neighborhoods, vibrant economy, educational excellence and customer service.

History

Rochester is uniquely centered within the heart of the Northeast Region, providing an economic bridge to Washington, New York, Toronto, Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, Baltimore and Montreal. Within a 400-mile radius that includes twelve Northeastern states and the two most populous Canadian provinces, Rochester reaches out to more than eighty million people-that is over one-third of the total U.S. population. The citizens of Rochester expect this Administration to manage the changes that are necessary within our community to bring forth a higher quality of life. Our challenge in city government is to fulfill this expectation by "Making it Happen." Our vision calls for living within our means while working collectively to make Rochester a better place to live and work. As employees of the city, we have been entrusted with various resources to meet the needs of our constituents. Because they are limited, these resources must be managed with the greatest care. If we are going to meet the expectations of the citizens of Rochester and truly make a difference for them, it is essential that we ensure that these limited resources are aligned and directed toward the issues of greatest importance.
