The City of Swartz Creek is a full service community providing full-time police coverage, fire protection, water and waste services, and road maintenance services. The City also administers local assessing, planning & development, election, and parks & recreation services.

These services are administered by a staff of professionals under the direction of a city manager that operates the day to day operations of the city. Likewise, the city manager works closely with the elected City Council to develop and implement policy for the city. In addition, there are many other boards and recommendation bodies that operate within the City to deliver policies and programs the make the City a better place to live. Such boards and commission include: the Planning Commission, the Parks and Recreation Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Board of Review (Assessing). Together, these elected, appointed, and professional personnel work diligently to provide the City residents and businesses with a high quality of life.
