The Contra Costa County Board of Education works with the County Superintendent of Schools to provide leadership, service, and support to the districts and all students of Contra Costa County through teamwork, communication, integrity, creativity, expertise, and advocacy for all learners.

The County Office of Education provides education-related services that can be handled most effectively and economically on a regional basis rather than by each of the county's 252 schools or 18 school districts. These services are provided at the request of districts or to meet state mandates.
The County Office of Education is an essential part of Contra Costa's outstanding public school system. Overall, our county's students rank high on virtually every measure of achievement – from test scores to college entrance rates.
