Cooper Elementary is a North Carolina Honor School of Excellence. The Honor School of Excellence recognition by definition means that our students not only met North Carolina testing requirements (ABCs) but also national testing requirements (AYP). Our school scored over the 90% student growth and performance standard. It is a very difficult award to receive, yet Cooper Elementary championed her way towards success. We are confident Cooper Elementary School will continue to advance in this direction.

Cooper Elementary School strives, through academics and character education, to accelerate and challenge all students to reach their maximum potential toward becoming productive citizens.

Our mascot is a rocket. You'll notice rockets throughout our site. These rockets were made by our students.

We strive to advance our students beyond a basic, minimal-skills education in an environment that is safe and nurturing, and rich with culturally diverse, challenging and creative educational opportunities. This environment allows our students to grow up to be enlightened citizens productively involved in shaping, refining and enriching our society.
