About Us:

Copper Bit Ranch is owned and operated by Joan & Tom Harms of Sterling. The ranch has over a dozen horses of various breeds who help educate people of all ages. 

For over 40 years, Joan has been a riding instructor (of all disciplines), horse trainer, breeder, and judge. Additionally, she retired from teaching school and focuses mainly on her "children" (the horses) and students. Her education and experience has enriched the lives of many horse owners and horses over the years.

Since retiring from teaching also, Tom manages the stable. From maintenance and hay production to financial records and investments, he wears many hats around the horse farm.

Creating 'stable people' through education and exercise with horses.

What We Offer:

-Horse show judging.

-Riding lessons year-round. Group and private lessons available. 

-Boarding for horses. Subject to availability.

-Clinics and seminars provided on site or at your facility. 

-Horse training via riding or driving lessons. 

-4-H Horse bowl and Hippology coaching for Carroll County.
