History of Cornerstone Church :

On May 8, 1985, Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church of Sparta, IL extended an arm for the Antioch Baptist Mission in Sandwich, IL with Bro. Danny Kirk, Interstate Missionary to Illinois, serving as missionary pastor.

On June 2, 1985, 21 people met in the home of Bro. Danny Kirk for the purpose of organizing Antioch Baptist Church Mission in Sandwich, IL. The Mission rented the store front building on the corner of Main and Center Street in Sandwich.

On July 2, 1987, the Mission bought 5 acres of land located north of town on Pratt Road. On Sunday, May 1, 1988, groundbreaking services were held with several members and some visitors present. Bro. Ed and Sister Claire Orr from Texas, with the men of the church, began work on the new church building on August 1st.

On Sunday, March 12, 1989, the mission membership voted to change the name of the church to Northside Baptist Church. The Northside Baptist Church moved into the new building on Pratt Road in April of that year. Bro. Danny Kirk gave his resignation as missionary pastor on August 18, 1991. In September 1991, Bro. Glen Baker came as interim pastor of Northside.
