Core Values

Christ Centered:

We are committed to Jesus Christ as the Cornerstone of our lives. This means we value a personal relationship with Christ and transformed lives because of this relationship. We believe this personal relationship with Jesus is the only way to an eternity with God.

Bible Based:

We value the Bible as the ultimate authority for our lives, supported by tradition, reason and experience. We believe the Bible contains all we need to live lives pleasing to God.

Grace:

We value relationships based on grace. Grace is underserved favor and blessing. Our relationship with God is based on the grace available through Jesus Christ. God calls us to relate to one another in grace. This means we give to others love, acceptance and forgiveness at all times whether they deserve it or not.

Integrity:

We value personal and shared, corporate integrity, demonstrating trustworthiness and faithfulness in how we live as individuals and operate as a church. Because there is no instant replay for life, we value playing 5 yards inside the boundaries so there will be "no appearance of evil."

Authenticity:

We seek to be authentic in who we are and in what we do. We believe authentic worship both attracts seekers and growing believers; therefore, we will not water down the message of Jesus. We seek to develop real relationships with others that will benefit them and not us alone.

People Matter:

We value people because God values people, especially those who have yet to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. People are our most valuable resource and more important than any building or event.

Teamwork:

We value teamwork, encouraging people to work with others and not alone. The Bible calls the Church "the body of Christ". God gives Christ-followers spiritual gifts and calls them to serve in and through those gifts. No one person has all the gifts; therefore, we need each other to accomplish God's mission for our lives. Developing new leaders is an essential component of teamwork at Cornerstone.

Culturally Relevant:

We value using the language and images of our culture to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, encouraging others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to use the words and music of the world as a means to communicate the timeless and unchanging message of Jesus. Jesus Himself set forth this value with His birth in Bethlehem, born as a baby in order to communicate with all humanity.
