The Council Bluffs Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc. is a non-profit Iowa corporation founded in 1965 by a group of shooting enthusiasts realizing that a group effort would provide greater opportunities to improve their knowledge of and skill with firearms than could be accomplished individually.

After a ten-year period of growth in membership and the accompanying increase in financial capabilities, the decision was made to purchase land for a range site instead of continuing to rent facilities.  As a result twenty acres of land north of Council Bluffs off Road L-34 was purchased for development.

A twenty point covered concrete bench firing line was constructed with fixed 100 and 200 yard target frames as well as portable target frames to provide flexibility for shorter distances.
