Crete Elementary is the largest pre-kindergarten through fourth grade building in the Crete-Monee School District with over 700 students. We provide a wide range of educational opportunities to ensure a successful school experience for each student.

Our reading program is based on a balanced literacy instructional model. Students are taught using whole class, small group, and individual instruction. Writing, literacy centers, and word study which includes spelling, phonics, and vocabulary are also integral parts of our reading program. Our teachers plan reading instruction using a wide variety of materials to challenge students and meet their individual needs.

For math we use the Everyday Mathematics Program developed by the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project. This program focuses on developing strong number sense, problem solving, demonstration of math knowledge, and computation. Our staff is highly trained in using this program and as a result of their expertise our students excel in math.
