The CSUB University Counselor Training Clinic offers individual, couple, family and group counseling services to members of the Bakersfield Community.

Services are provided by advanced graduate student clinicians from California State University, Bakersfield. Counseling is supervised by a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. All sessions are videotaped for training purposes.

We offer services related to:

Career counseling

Coping strategies

Couple communications

Developmental transitions and issues

Life skills problems

Parenting concerns

Problems of everyday life

Stress management

Vocational decision making

Children within the context of families

We do not offer services related to:

Acute crisis

Current serious or long-term psychiatric disabilities

Domestic violence/abuse and battering

Suicidal concerns

Drug and/or alcohol abuse

HOURS

The Clinic is open Monday through Thursday, afternoons and evenings, during the school year, except for December. The Clinic is closed during the summer and staff will begin taking appointments about September 1st. All counseling sessions are by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled by calling our voice mail at 654-3402. Leave your name and telephone number(s) where you can be reached day and evening, and a short message. The Clinic Manager will return your call as soon as possible.

FEES

Fees for counseling services are $25 for the first session and $15 per session thereafter. Fees are used to support the operation of the Clinic and are collected at the beginning of each session. Should our fees impose a hardship, feel free to discuss with the Clinic Manager or your counselor the possibility of alternative arrangements. No client will be denied services because of his or her current inability to pay.

Location

The University Counselor Training Clinic is located at California State University, Bakersfield (9001 Stockdale Highway, on the 2nd floor of the Education Building - Room 200).

Enter the University from Don Hart Drive West (the West entrance off Stockdale Highway). The Education Building site is in the center of the campus directly west of the red brick sidewalk. Use the outside wooden staircase to enter the building (handicapped entrance through main ground floor doors).

Parking

Free parking located north of Stockdale Highway across from CSUB Amphitheatre. Golden Empire Transit makes stops at the campus from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You may also obtain a $5.00 parking pass from one of the meters located at each entrance to the campus. The lots are often crowded, so please come early.
