The Currituck County Senior Center opened in May, 1993, with 25 participants. Currently, there are nearly 900 senior adults registered as members.
There are two satellite centers:
The Powells Point Senior Center , which opened in the summer of 1999. This facility was previously the site of a nutrition center.
The Knotts Island Senior Center , which celebrated its grand opening in July, 2003. Approximately 55 members are currently enrolled.
