History:
I was raised in Three Rivers, Michigan. As a boy growing up in the 1960s and 1970s I did a lot of camping with my family in northern Michigan. I remember wonderful times spent at Higgins Lake, and in the UP at Tahquamenon Falls. Now I live in Indianapolis, Indiana, but I still love vacationing in the Great Lakes state. I recently took a trip that covered the entire Michigan coastline from Benton Harbor all the way around to Bay City. I've never seen such a beautiful state! Charlevoix is heaven on earth. And Big Mac - the Mackinac Bridge - is incredible. After the trip, I got to wondering if I could put on a blues fest in Michigan like the Bean Blossom Blues Fest I put on here in Indiana. I did some research and found the perfect place in Michigan to put on a really fun festival - the Double JJ Resort - so I'm trying it! I realize that putting on an event of this size is very risky financially - even dangerous - but I know that Michiganders love their music, and they love having fun. Plus, I want to give something back to the state that has given so much to me!
