It is with great pleasure that I return for my seventh year to serve the educational community of DeSoto Elementary School. In the time I have been here, I have found a school rich with tradition and pride. The school presents a family atmosphere in which students, parents, alumni, and the DeSoto community are willing to provide great support to ensure the best educational experiences for each and every student who goes through the building. We are a small school, with under two hundred students, which helps promote this family atmosphere.

Our students are given many opportunities with special programs to meet their educational needs. At DeSoto Elementary School, we also serve as the magnet school for the Gifted and talented Education for the Delaware Community School Corporation for Fourth and Fifth Grade students. An emphasis on technology and real world situations enhance the learning environment at DeSoto Elementary School.

We encourage parents to become actively involved in their child's education and boast a very strong and active parent Teacher Organization that provides continued support to the students, staff, and community at DeSoto Elementary School. PTO meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month and are open to all families who wish to attend.

Our students consistently score very well on standardized tests and continue to have success at the middle and high school levels. The expectations set by the staff for our students are very high, but are some that we expect to see our students meet in order to become outstanding citizens and productive learners in our changing society. We encourage visits to our school as we try to maintain a very open and caring environment.
