High school string students are invited to participate in the Dorian Orchestra Festival where students are placed in one of two orchestras: the Festival String Orchestra or the select Chamber Orchestra. The Luther College Symphony Orchestra performs for the festival participants during the weekend, and the two festival orchestras perform in a Grand Concert on Monday evening.
In addition to ensemble rehearsals, students will also participate in a techniques class and masterclass led by Luther College String Faculty members. Students also have the opportunity to receive a 20 minute private lesson from a Luther College faculty member. This lesson may serve as an audition to be a concert soloist, and it may serve as a music scholarship audition for those seniors interested in attending Luther College.
We are proud to be hosting the 2024 Dorian Orchestra Festival. The festival is comprised of juniors and seniors that have been nominated by their school directors. While on campus, students will prepare music with our faculty to be presented at the grand concert on February 5th.
