On August 18, 1989, the Downtown Seneca Merchant's Association received its Certificate of Incorporation.  Since inception, the Mission Statement of the Downtown Seneca Merchant's Association has been as follows:  "The purpose of the Corporation is to coordinate merchants, services, and government in efforts to promote downtown Seneca as a place to shop through advertising, merchandising and publicity."

Since inception, the Downtown Seneca Merchant's Association, with the cooperation and generous support of others, has hosted and promoted numerous events including the infamous "Downtown-Go-Round" and "Music on the Green."  The Association has grown, and continues to grow in stature, as a force in the success of downtown Seneca, Oconee County, and the Upstate area generally.
