Duneland School Corporation is located in Northwest Indiana and serves over 5000 students from a 92 square-mile area including Westchester, Jackson, Liberty and parts of Pine Townships, all located in Porter County. We employ approximately 300 professional staff, counselors, administrators and specialists, and over 310 support staff.
Duneland consists of 5 elementary schools ( grades K-4), 2 intermediate schools ( grades 5-6), a middle school (grades 7-8) and a high school (grades 9-12). Each school has a hot lunch program and bus service is provided to all students living outside of walking boundaries.
In August of 2000 we opened the doors to our new high school building. It is a state of the art facility, designed to accomodate up to 2500 students. The former high school building has been remodeled, and in August of 2001 reopened as Chesterton Middle School, serving all district students in grades 7 and 8. Our 2 former Middle Schools are now Liberty Intermediate and Westchester Intermediate, educating students in grades 5 and 6.
In addition to the many educational opportunities offered by our schools, Duneland's close proximity to the Indiana Dunes, the National Lakeshore and Chicago provides unique educational, cultural and recreational opportunities for our students and community.
