About Us
As a dedicated 501 (c) (3) non-profit, Elk Grove Food Bank Services enjoys rich collaborative partnerships with local businesses, government, donors, volunteers, agencies and people we serve. Because of this strong community support, Elk Grove Food Bank Services is there to help when we're needed. Even after three decades, we still strive to respond to our community needs by improving and expanding services and developing new programs.
History
Since 1974, the Food Bank has vigorously pursued to eradicate hunger within the community. It originally started from a food closet at a local church by the Elk Grove Ministerial Association to meet the need of those less fortunate.
A Board of Directors was organized in the early 1990's, a merge occurred with the Elk Grove Clothes Closet and the Food Bank became a 501-c-3 in 2004. As the region experienced explosive growth, the Food Bank continued to expand its services to keep up with the additional challenges brought with the influx of new residents.
Today the Elk Grove Food Bank Services provides eight programs to a bustling community. We are dedicated to alleviating hunger, developing programs to increase awareness and providing an opportunity for volunteerism and community involvement.
