History:
With the closure of Elk River's 80 year-old school (and school/community library) in 1990, the Elk River Free Library district was established on November 6, 1990. The library is located on Main Street, across from the U.S. Post Office in the building that was used as City Hall for many years. The building was originally built as a law enforcement office and a section of the building is still used for the resident Clearwater County Deputy's office.
Elk River is located 50 miles north of Moscow, ID and has a population of approximately 140 residents
