Mission:
So many of you have embraced the ministry of the "Drop-In Center" in Mexico City, I wanted to take a few lines and update you on developments there, since our mission in October. Below is the best list I can give you of everything that is happening:
A Canadian man, Paul Weeks, followed our team and spent several weeks building shelves in one of the office rooms, where the mission can store clothing to be given away to street kids. He also poured a concrete floor over the existing uneven and grease soaked garage floor. Paul also put in a laundry sink and replaced broken glass throughout the building, besides doing all kinds of little fix-up work on the property.
Most recently, the ministry to the kids is growing, and, kids are not only coming to Jesus, but they are learning work skills and how to market small items they are making themselves. Many of the kids are being integrated into local churches and are being baptized and discipled. A number are in drug rehab and witnessing to their friends about how good God is. They are using the facility for getting cleaned up and getting their clothes washed.
The new mission directors of the ministry have just returned from furlough in the UK to begin overseeing the new ministry. They are very excited to get the work infused with more purpose and resources as they take over from the temporary directors, Robin and Bebe Dugdale, from England, who did a marvelous job of getting it up and running. This couple, in their seventies, committed two years of their lives, after retiring from secular life, to working in Mexico City on a short-term mission. They left overjoyed at how God used them. Anyone else so interested, I'd love to pray with you.
In other mission news: In one of the best meetings we ever had, the missions council agreed in February to the following increases to our missions calling as a church:
To give new monthly support to Mexico Missionaries, Jose and Audry Banales, and Alejandro and Patti, the nationals running the drop-in center.
To give $1500 to drill a well in India.
To increase our support to Israel by $100 per month.
To seek offerings to help send Sabrena Church to Romania in August.
Local outreaches coming soon include the Memorial Day Biker Ministries and three WorshipFests this summer. Please pray what local outreach your Life Group can do to reach our community for Jesus.
Yours for a fearless faith to reach the lost, Wayne and Marsha.
