First Presbyterian Church has its roots in the Presbyterian Churches of Arlington, Lowville, and Dekorra.  In 1864, Pastor James Lowrie served as minister to the churches in Lowville and Arlington.  He held an occasional service in Poynette, which by 1866 grew into a regular appointment.  The First Presbyterian Church of Poynette was officially organized on April 24, 1867.  In 2017, the church will celebrate her sesquicentennial.
