The first Methodist circuit rider came to "West Liberty" in 1840. Since then the historic First United Methodist Church has served the Lord and the Dayton community with worship, fellowship and good deeds. The first house of worship was built in 1906. It was replaced in 1928. The current sanctuary was built in 1980. The Methodist Church was supplied by its first full time pastor in 1908.
The First United Methodist Church seeks to make disciples of Jesus Christ. In that we seek to grow spiritually through our worship services and discipleship opportunities including our Sunday School, special Bible classes, youth, children's and other ministries.
First United Methodist Church seeks to connect to its community through many different ministries. God has given us a great opportunity to strengthen those involved in the church family and reach out to new people and families making Dayton their home.
