Created in 1960 by Mayor George Bourque, Fitchburg Civic Days is one of the City’s oldest and longest traditions celebrating the week of the 4th of July. Fitchburg Civic Days brings together not only the residents of Fitchburg, but those of North Central Massachusetts to celebrate Independence Day through a series of family-oriented cultural events including the annual 4th of July Parade, the Amazing Duck Race, and the Downtown Block Party.
Civic Days is an event run through the Mayor's Office supported by City Departments including: Fitchburg Parks and Rec, The Board of Health, Fitchburg Department of Public Works, Fitchburg Fire, Fitchburg Police Department, Community Development & Planning and some of the Cities key partners including, Fitchburg Access Television, Fitchburg Public Schools and InTown Fitchburg.
