The Rutherford County Emergency Food Bank was established in 1979 to serve the emergency food needs of the residents of Murfreesboro and surrounding cities in Rutherford County with the exception of Smyrna and LaVergne.

During the 2015 fiscal year, the Food Bank served 3,411 families which encompassed 8,548 individuals who live in the southern part of Rutherford County.

The Food Bank is a non-profit agency which is funded by the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, private individuals, area churches, local governments, and civic organizations.

Food is donated to the Food Bank by area churches, local schools, civic organizations, youth groups, businesses and private individuals

We have 2 major food drives throughout the year to include the USPS food drive and the Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City School Drive
