The mission of the school district as defined in the state approved Strategic Plan is to provide an ideal educational program which serves the community, state, and nation by enabling each student to develop respect for self and others, acquire basic knowledge, develop learning and thinking skills, develop talents and abilities, and become a lifelong worker and responsible citizen.
The Forbes Road School District is a rural district that encompasses 100 square miles in Taylor, Wells, and Dublin Townships in northern Fulton County. The district campus is located just off Pennsylvania Route 655 and North Hess Road between Waterfall and Hustontown. The historic background adds to the charm of the area as well as the central location to the recreational areas and easy access to a wide variety of interests.
One of the most noticeable attractions of the area is the picturesque green hills and peaceful valleys with gorgeous summer foliage and fall colors. One also can't help noticing the laid back way of life and less stressful pressures.
The school district is comprised of an Elementary School and a Junior-Senior High School. The annual financial budget of about $3.5 million dollars attempts to maintain this thorough and efficient school system with the emphasis on the basics as well as incorporating technology in all subject areas.
The district has about 525 students, 43 professional staff, and 20 classified employees. The big advantage of small rural school is in getting to know the student as an individual rather than just a number. This supports the school's commitment to each student and encourages parent involvement and participation with the district as a team, supporting the educational program with extra-curricular activities and working with other education and county social agencies for the support of the students, the families, and the community.
