We believe that there are specific skills and habits students need in order to experience success in school. We have provided each student with an Assignment Book in an effort to encourage them to develop organizational skills that will enable them to be more successful students. Becoming organized and learning to manage one’s time are life long skills. Please review the purpose of the Assignment Book with your child and stress the importance of using it daily. During the first week of school we met with all the students to share our expectations with them. We believe that the students should know what we expect of them both academically and behaviorally. Our theme is “Think Straight A’s: Attitude, Attendance and Achievement.” We want our students to understand that a positive attitude, good attendance and hard work will enable him/her to become a proficient student in school and in life! Being successful doesn’t just happen; it takes hard work and commitment. We would also like to emphasize the importance of homework, especially our requirement of daily reading (D.E.A.R. Program). We believe that students need to consistently practice their reading skills to become better readers and life long learners. We encourage you to stay in contact with your child’s teachers, join the PTA and stay connected to what your child is doing!
